Dorset Clinical Services Review

3009864_Royal_Bournemouth_HospitalAn article published in the HSJ (Health Service Journal) reports that the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) “believes centralising emergency and planned services on different sites in the east of the county will help to plug an estimated £158m funding gap by 2020-21, improve outcomes and pave the way for seven day services”.

The CCG has recommended that the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Foundation Trust is the preferred option for the “major emergency hospital” in East Dorset.

If the CCG’s plans go ahead, Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will be re-purposed as a “major planned hospital” with a 24 hour urgent care centre.
