Clinical Knowledge Summaries

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has launched a new version of the Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) service.  This new CKS service upgrades the existing CKS service and will be openly accessible to users at Clinical Knowledge Summaries.

The service is aimed at primary care practitioners and provides readily accessible summaries of the current evidence base and practical guidance on best practice in respect of over 300 common and/or significant primary care presentations. Additionally, it is also optimised for use on tablets and smart phones.

The service will aim to introduce up to 10 new primary care topics each year, based on published NICE clinical guidelines, together with an update cycle for existing topics. New topics already planned for release in 2013 include anxiety, postnatal care, and pain & bleeding in early pregnancy.

So if you are a practising GP or a doctor training in general practice, you should definitely become familiar with this resource and make use of it on a regular basis.
