Update on library facilities

As you are aware the libraries at Poole, Royal Bournemouth and St Ann’s Hospitals  are undergoing a transformation.

At Poole Hospital all library facilities are currently in storage.  However a small collection of printed books is available for loan and you may request items from other libraries, literature searches or send enquiries to library staff who are based on the ground floor of the Postgraduate Centre.  Books may be returned to the book return box located outside Churchfield House.  Don’t forget that you have access to numerous electronic journals and books via NHS ATHENS.  If you need to access a computer, print or photocopy then please ask library staff for assistance.

At Royal Bournemouth Hospital Library all printed books and journals are available for you to browse and study facilities are still available whilst building work takes place.  Staff are on-hand to answer enquiries, perform literature searches or help locate articles.  Unfortunately there is currently no access to computing facilities within the Library although photocopying, printing and scanning is possible – please ask library staff for details.  Again don’t forget that Clinical Key, BMJ Learning and many other electronic databases, journals and books are available via NHS ATHENS.

At St Ann’s Library we are in the process of packing up printed books and journals to make way for a re-developed learning and research hub.  Study space remains available and Library Staff are available at Poole Hospital to answer enquiries, perform literature searches or obtain books and articles from other libraries.  Many journals and books are now available electronically using an NHS ATHENS username and password.

If you require any assistance in locating information or finding a suitable place to study then please send all enquiries to library@poole.nhs.uk or library@rbch.nhs.uk
