State of Care Report 2011/12

The State of Care annual report from the Care Quality Commission looks at care services across England in both NHS and private facilites. The results which are based on over 13,000 inspections highlight the complex needs of an ageing population and the pressures facing services. socsmall[1]

Key findings are:

  • one in 10 NHS hospitals failed to treat people with the respect they deserve and failed to involve them in decisions about their care.
  • 15 per cent of social care services were not providing care that respected people.
  • 23 per cent did not have adequate staffing levels.

Search the site by town/hospital/postcode to see how local services fare. The full report (PDF 116 pages) and summary (12 pages) are also available.
