Website of the Month: The Mental Elf

The Mental Elf is a website that will keep you up to date with the latest reliable mental health research, policy and guidance.

Every weekday you will receive a new update that highlights an important piece of evidence, summarised in a clear and understandable way, with links to the full-text where available.

It will save you the time of looking at dozens of websites and articles every week, alerting you to key guidance, systematic reviews and high quality patient information. Their motto is “No jargon, no misinformation, no spin, just what you need”!

The website has a Twitter and Facebook following and there is even a Mental Elf mobile app in both iPhone and android versions, so you can keep to date on the move.

The website is run by Andre Tomlin, who has worked in mental health for over 15 years. He was previously at the Centre for Evidence-Based Mental Health at Oxford University and managed the Mental Health Specialist collection for the NHS for 10 years.

The Mental Elf is one of a growing suite of ‘elves’ that will make up a
soon-to-be-launched  ‘National Elf Service’. Other topics covered already include: dentistry, diabetes, healthy lifestyle, learning disabilities and musculoskeletal health.
