Website of the Month: Medical Protection Society

The Medical Protection Society MPS website contains a wealth of information relating to legal and ethical problems arising from medical professional practice.

Stethoscope and Gavel

Specifically designed for members of MPS  the site is split into areas for Consultants, Foundation Doctors, Students, Hospital Doctors  in Training and GPs.  Although geared towards medics the site has some extremely useful publications that may interest all health professionals.

Clicking on the Advice/Publications tab takes you to the full range of publications produced by the Society.

Three major publications available are:  Casebook;  Sessional GP and Your Practice which discuss a range of issues such as risks arising from nasogastric tube errors to communicating via social media and SMS text.  Current and back issues can be browsed from the website.

A range of case reports, fact sheets, booklets, pod casts and video casts covering a wide range of medico-legal and ethical professional issues are also freely available on the site and are updated regularly.
