Ask a Librarian!

Sorting through some old literature search request forms made me realise the variety of topics we cover when providing information.  They can range from the very specific – so the duration of prednisolone treatment for polymyalgia rheumatica, for example, to something more general, such as an overview of a particular therapy or issues surrounding consent.

Whatever the enquiry, we are happy to use our expertise in searching quality sources – including bibliographic databases like Medline, Embase and British Nursing Index – to provide you with the information you need.  If you are on a formal course we can provide training as you will need to be able to conduct the search yourself.

If you think we can help do contact us to discuss.  Our FAQ sheet has more information and there’s also an article in  ‘Quality and Safety in Health Care’  (2004) underlining the importance of rigorous searching which you may find of interest.
