John Gill’s Retirement

After 34 years of providing East Dorset NHS staff and students with a high quality Library and Information service, John Gill, Principal Librarian, has decided to return his overdue books, cancel his Athens account, and retire on 30th June.  His vast pool of knowledge and expertise, not to mention his genial company, will be missed by all, not just at Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals, but also by regional library colleagues, all those connected with British Nursing Index, Bournemouth University and other illustrious institutions, committees and so on too numerous to mention.

As John’s experience stretches back further than any of us can remember, we asked him to recount some of the most memorable times, and this he has promised to do for a future blog post. In the meantime, I am sure you will all join us in wishing him a long and happy retirement.

Alison Day will assume some of John’s responsibilities until a suitable replacement is appointed.
